Our Motto is Family Fun and Fitness.
Children are eligible to be registered for Little Athletics after they turn 5.
We have age groups from under 6 up to and including under 16.
Philosophy: Our focus is on encouraging children to improve their own times and distances in events during the season.
Facilities: We use a 400m circular grass running track with a synthetic surface on our long and triple jump run ups.
Location: Corner of Frederick and Fuller Sts, Camperdown, behind the basketball stadium.
Times: We start at 4.30 on Friday nights during competition season. Please be there at least 15 minutes early for announcements and sign ins. Our season runs from October to early March, with a break for school holidays. In season 20/21 we commence on Friday October 30th, see details below.
Events offered: These vary with age group but include sprints, middle distance running, hurdles, long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus, shot put and javelin.
Event program: Athletes compete in up to five events each Friday competition night, usually composed of 3 running races, a throwing event and a jumping event. Children in the u6 to u8 age group also have some "on track" skills sessions as part of their program.
In order to comply with ongoing Covid protocols this year, adjustments to the printed program may need to be made during the season depending upon athlete age groupings and numbers.
Coaching: Much of our coaching is done during our competition nights by experienced parents, many of whom have completed LAVic introduction to coaching courses. We also offer a training night on Tuesday nights for interested athletes, dates TBC.
Children experience a range of events each week, and those aged in the under 9 group or older have the opportunity to compete at region and state Level (subject to qualification at region events). Our club also has the ability to connect you with coaching and other competition opportunities outside of our club, where applicable.
Uniforms: Participants wear a red t-shirt (any red t-shirt is fine) and black shorts for our Friday night competitions. If an athlete competes at regional or state level the club provides them with a club competition top to wear for the duration of that event. Subway patches need to be worn every Friday night, and Coles badges attached to the t-shirt.
Like most sports, Camperdown Little Athletics will need to adhere to strict COVID protocols in order to be able to start our season. These protocols include keeping group sizes small, regular cleaning of equipment, social distancing for all athletes, parents and officials, registering all attendees, and mask wearing for everyone over the age of 12 (excluding when competing or with a medical exemption). It is vital that all families, whether new or returning, have a look at these protocols before registering and ensure that you and your family can comply. All parents will play a huge role in ensuring that that we can start and continue our season by abiding with the protocols. We have several COVID officials who will be required to monitor our competition nights, please make their voluntary job easier by doing the right thing, we are all here for our children.

Registering for Season 20/21
Due to COVID restrictions, all athletes need to be registered at least 24 hours prior to their first competition night. No registrations can be taken on the night. This allows the committee to make decisions regarding group sizes and events to ensure compliance with our protocols.
New athletes can register on the link below, and can have a two week trial before payment needs to be made. Please note: Trialing members are required to click the link below for trailing members to register. (Registrations received after 5pm Thursday will begin competition the following Friday.)
Bib and registration pack night.
In order to avoid congestion on competition night we will be at the oval on Tuesday 27th October to hand out bibs and registration material. We would encourage members to register prior to this date to streamline distribution of bibs and books. Times to be confirmed.
